Question 777294: Dear Math tutor,
A steel ball of volume 600cm^3 is melted down and made into three balls. A, B and C. if the volumes of A,B and C are in the ratio 7:5:3, calculate to 1 d.p the radius of each of A, B, and C.
do i add the ratios together and then divide it by 600? 600/15=13.4. then 13.4x7 ,13.4x5, 13.4x3 and use r^3=3V/4pi?
Best wishes,
Nats

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The 600 cm%5E3 is split into 7%2B5%2B3=15 parts.
volume A is %287%2F15%29%2A600=280 cm%5E3
volume B is %285%2F15%29%2A600=200 cm%5E3
volume C is %283%2F15%29%2A600=120 cm%5E3

Instead of my working and telling you the radii of those spheres, you should find them yourself.
v for volume, v=%284%2F3%29pi%2Ar%5E3
r%5E3=%283%2F4%29v%2Fpi
highlight%28r=root%283%2C%283v%29%2F%28pi%2A4%29%29%29
