Suppose the angle of elevation to the top of a tree is 50 degrees. If you are standing 35 feet away from the tree, how tall is the tree?

Draw the picture of the rt triangle with the tree opposite the 50 degree angle.
and 35 the length of the side adjacent to the 50 degree angle.

EQUATION:
Tangent(50 degrees) = opp/adj = tree height/35
-----
tree height = 35*tan(50)=41.71 ft.
