1(x+12) + 6 = 2x ... multiply everything (outside the parenthesis) by the LCD 6

1(x+12) + 6 = 2x

x+12 + 6 = 2x

x+18 = 2x

18 = 2x-x

18 = x

x = 18

Answer: x = 18
