Length of leg and short side is not enough to find length of base. You CAN find it if this is a right-triangle. In that case, long side is the hypotenuse, and then the base and short side each are legs of the right-triangle. The case allows you to say hypotenuse%5E2=base%5E2%2Bside%5E2, 10%5E2=b%5E2%2B6%5E2 and you can find b.
