then

x = 40 is the multiplier
then

amt received by Sue and Lynn = 200, represents 80% of the total (20% to May)
let t = total sum of money
.80t = 200
t = 200/.8
t = $250 total amt
then 20% of that
.2(250) = $50 received by May
