Let the numbers be x and y. We need to find the ratio of the first number to the
second i.e. x/y
30% of first number = 30%*x = 0.3*x
When added to second number y, it becomes y+%2B+0.3%2Ax
When added, y becomes 140% i.e. 1.4*y
So we have the equation 1.4%2Ay+=+y+%2B+0.3%2Ax
Moving y to left side
0.4%2Ay+=+0.3%2Ax
x%2Fy+=+0.4%2F0.3+=+4%2F3
