You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the painting is square and is surrounded
by a 3cm wide frame.
The four sides of the painting + frame
can be represented by 4 *(x + 6)
The area of a square = length * width
Area = (x + 6)(x + 6)
961 = x^2 + 12x + 36
Rearranging
x^2 + 12x + 36 - 961 = 0
x^2 + 12x - 925 = 0
(x + 37)(x - 25) = 0
x + 37 = 0
x = -37 (no answer as x <0)
x - 25 = 0
x = 25
Therefore, the dimensions of the painting
without its frame is 25cm by 25cm
Hope this helps.
