Question 771147: use the distance formula d = rt to find out how far I can go in a certain amount of time when traveling at a certain rate. Let's solve for r (get r alone) on the above formula. Then, let's find out what our rate was if we traveled 100 miles in 1 hour and 36 minutes. Hint: change 36 minutes to hours.
Can you please show me the steps to follow when working this sort of problem? Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Always there are three aspects of solving these type of problems.
You should remember the letters FCC
F-Formula you are going to use
C-Conversion to right units
and C- calculation the last part
Formula = d=rt
we have to find r
r= d/t
time should be in hours because speed is in mph
36 minutes = 36 /60 = 3/5 hours
1 3/5= 8/5 hours
r = 100 / (8/5)
x= 100 * 5/8
r= 125/2 = 62.5 mph
