You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A painter can paint a kitchen in 12 hours. An apprentice can paint the same kitchen in 24 hours. If they worked together, how long would it take them to paint the kitchen?
-------
Painter rate:: 1/12 job/hr
Apprentice:::: 1/24 job/hr
Together rate: 1/x job/hr
----------------------
Equation:
1/12 + 1/24 = 1/x
24x + 12x = 12*24
36x = 12*24
----
x = 8 hrs (amt. of time to do the job together)
