Question 769983: Not sure were I'm going wrong but here is the problem: I have three mixed number that I have to multiply, 2 1/4* 7 1/8 * 1 1/3. So first I would convert 2 1/4 into an improper fraction 2*4=8+1= 9/4. 7 1/8 as an improper fraction would be 7*8=56+1=57/8= 9/4 * 57/8= 513/32 1 1/3= 1*3+1=4/3. 512/32 * 4/3 = 2048/96. 2048 Divided 96. 96 goes into 2048 21 times. 96*21= 2016. 2048-2016= 32. So our mixed number than becomes 21 32/96. 21 32/96 Reduces to 21 1/3. The Answer book says 21 3/8 is the correct answer.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Multiply the mixed numbers:
(2 1/4) * (7 1/8) * (1 1/3)
Convert these numbers into fractions
2 1/4 = 9/4
7 1/8 = 57/8
1 1/3 = 4/3

Multiply them:
(9/4) * (57/8) * (4/3) = 2052/96 = 171/8 = 21 3/8 (correct answer)
Hope it helps you!
