Question 769449: can someone help me solve this quadratic formula word problem please
Your business finds that its revenue R is connected to the price p that you charge by the equation R = -p^2 + 100p. This equation predicts that the revenue will rise with increasing price, but eventually will drop back off as the price gets too high. You wonder what price would generate a revenue of $2500, so you plunk in that R value and rearrange the equation to 0 = p^2 - 100p + 2500. Please find p.
Price in dollars (give either answer, nearest integer)??????????

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You got it right up to the equation
p^2 - 100p + 2500 = 0
This can be simplified as (p - 50)^2 = 0
or p = 50.
So this quadratic has only one root p = 50
i.e. the price required to generate a revenue of $2500 is $50.
Hope this helps :)
