Question 768529: (write a equation for each condition listed)

1.the line with the slope of -8 and a y-intercept of 3 (in slope-intercept form)

2.the line that passes through (-2,0)and has a slope of 5 (in point-slope form)

3.the horizontal line that passes through (-2,6)

4.the vertical line that passes through (-2,6)

If you guys at algebra.com can help me solve these problems it would be highly appreciated it?

thanks Troy

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1.the line with the slope of -8 and a y-intercept of 3 (in slope-intercept form)
2.the line that passes through (-2,0)and has a slope of 5 (in point-slope form)
3.the horizontal line that passes through (-2,6)
4.the vertical line that passes through (-2,6)
Ans:
1)
Equation of a line with slope m and y-intercept c is given by y = m*x + c
Here slope = -8, y-intercept = 3
So eqn is or
2)
Eqn of a line that passes through x1,y1 and has slope m is given by

Here, (x1,y1) = (-2,0) and slope = 5

  or is the equation
3)
Horizontal line has the equation of the form y =
Since it passes through (-2,6), one value of y, which is the constant value,
has to be 6.
So, the equation is
4)
Vertical line has the equation of the form x =
Since it passes through (-2,6), one value of x, which is the constant value,
has to be -2.
So, the equation is or

Hope you got it :)
