The average is the sum of all the points scored in all games played divided by the number of games played. This problem has a twist since it gives you the average. No problem though, just apply the equation for finding the average and solve for the points scored in the last game.
Let x be the points needed in the last game to average 23. You can then write the following:

Now, solve for x:
