You can put this solution on YOUR website!
%28%28x+-+7%29%29%2F5+5%2F2+ = %28%28x+%2B+9%29%29%2F10
:
First get rid of the denominators by multiplying each term by a common denominator
10 would be a good one:
%2810%28x+-+7%29%29%2F5%2810%295%2F2+ = %2810%28x+%2B+9%29%29%2F10
:
Cancel out the denominators and you have:
2(x - 7) - 5(5) = x + 9
:
Multiply what's inside the brackets and you have:
2x - 14 - 25 = x + 9
:
Some basic algebra
2x - 39 = x + 9
2x - x = 9 + 39
x = +48
:
Check in original equation substitute 48 for x:
%28%2848+-+7%29%29%2F5+5%2F2+ = %28%2848+%2B+9%29%29%2F10
:
%28%2841%29%29%2F5+5%2F2+ = %28%2857%29%29%2F10
:
Change to a common denominator (10):
%28%2882%29%29%2F10+25%2F10+ = %28%2857%29%29%2F10
:
