Question 767237: Cannot fiqure out how to set up the equation. Here is the word problem.
*Your store sells hats and belts. You sold $60 worth of product on Friday. Your hat sales were 5/6th of your belt sales. How many dollars worth of hats did you sell on Friday?*
If you can just help set this into an equation I can do the rest to solve it.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Your store sells hats and belts. You sold $60 worth of product on Friday. Your hat sales were 5/6th of your belt sales. How many dollars worth of hats did you sell on Friday?*
let belts sales be $x
hat sales = 5/6 of $x
Total = $60
x+5x/6 =60
multiply by 6
6x+5x=360
11x=360
/11
x=360/11
x=32.72
hat sales = (5 /6 )* 32.72
= 27.25 worth hats
