You can put this solution on YOUR website!
tell me if i did this problem correct
square root of 2x + 5 + 8 = 17
= square root of 2x + 13 = 17
= 2x + 13 -13 = 17 - 13 = 4
=2x = 4
__ __
2 2
x = 2

SOME OF THE THINGS YOU DID WERE CORRECT AND AT LEAST YOU GAVE IT A SHOT. FIRST OF ALL, IS THIS THE PROBLEM????
%28sqrt%282x%29%29%2B5%2B8=17
If this is the problem, then you should have gotten (and you got most of it)
sqrt%282x%29%2B13=17
sqrt%282x%29%2B13-13=17-13
sqrt%282x%29=4 square both sides to get rid of the radical
2x=16 divide both sides by 2
x=8
CK
sqrt%2816%29%2B13=17
4%2B13=17
17=17

Hope this helps----ptaylor
