You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Lets assume man had $X in total
now the man gave two fifths of his paycheck to his wife, which means (2/5)X is given away. How much is left
X - (2/5)X = (3/5)X
Man is left with (3/5)X
Now its given that he spent half of this left over, which means (1/2)*(3/5)X
So man is left with
=(3/5)X - (1/2)*(3/5)X
=(3/5)X - (3/10)X
=(3/10)X
now its given that he is left with $300 which means
300 = (3/10)X
X = 1000
so Man had $1000 initially.
