jill was building a pen for her baby turtles. She wants the pen to be 30 inches long and 45 inches wide. Which piece of wood will Jull need to purchase to build the turtle pen?
-----
Draw a picture of a rectangle.
Mark the sides:: 30 then 45 then 30 then 45.
----
Distance around is 2*45+2*30 = 90 + 60 = 150 inches
-----
150 inches = 150/12 = 12 1/2 feet

Get the 15 foot piece

She wants the pen to be 30 inches long and 45 inches wide. So we want to calculate the Perimeter (P) of the pen.
P = 2*length + 2*width
P = 2*30 + 2*45
P = 60 + 90 = 150 inches
=======================================
we want our answer to be in feet so we divide 150 by 12 = 12.5 feet
so we need the 15 foot piece of wood
