You can put this solution on YOUR website! 3) Jacob has three liters of 80% acid. How much acid should he add to make a solution that is 85% acid?
------
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
0.80*3 + 1.00x = 0.85(3+x)
---
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
80*3 + 100x = 85*3 + 85x
15x = 5*3
x = 1 liter (amt. of pure acid to add)

Note:: Your next two problems can be worked the same way.
