You can put this solution on YOUR website! The sum of the digits of a certain three digit number is 12. If the hundreds digit is three times the tens digit, and the tens digit digit is one-half the ones digit, what is the number -------
 The number::: 100a + 10b + c
 -----
 Equations:
 a + b + c = 12
 a = 3b
 b = (1/2)c
 --------
 -------------------
 a = (3/2)c
 Substitute for a and for b and solve for "c":
 (3/2)c + (1/2)c + c = 12
 ------
 3c = 12
 c = 4
 ----
 b = (1/2)c = 2
 a = (3/2)c = 6
 ----
 Number = 624
