Question 765438: Please Help! I am so stumped and confused! :) THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Gravitational Force according to Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation, the attraction force F between two bodies is given by:
F = G m1m2/r^2
Where m1,m2 are the masses of the two bodies:
r = distance between the two bodies
G = gravitational constant 6.6742 x 10^11
Newton's meter^2 kilogram^-2
Suppose and object is traveling directly from Earth to the moon. The mass of the Earth is 5.9742 x 10^24 kilograms the mass of the moon is 7.349 x 10^22 kilograms and mean distance from Earth to the moon is 384,400 kilometers. Set up and inequality that would answer this question: For an object between Earth and the moon, how far from Earth and the moon, how far from Earth is the force on the object due to the moon greater than the force on the object due to Earth? Simplify in equality until one side equals zero.
m1 = mass of Earth
m2= mass of surface of moon
r = distance between them

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Gravitational Force according to Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation, the attraction force F between two bodies is given by:
F = G m1m2/r^2
Where m1,m2 are the masses of the two bodies:
r = distance between the two bodies
G = gravitational constant 6.6742 x 10^11
Simplify in equality until one side equals zero.
m1 = mass of Earth
m2= mass of surface of moon
r = distance between them
------------
Find where the forces are equal. Any greater distance from Earth, the moon's attraction is greater.
