Question 761773: a motorist travelled 115km on an expressway at an average speed of 92km/h & another 45 minutes on other roads. If the average speed for his whole journey was 80km/h,how far did he travel on the other roads? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Time = Distance/Speed = 115/92 = 1.25hours
45 mins/60 mins = 0.75hours
1.25 + 0.75 = 2.00 hours.
Distance = Speed * Time = 80 * 2 = 160miles
Therefore 160km - 115km = 45km
He travelled 45km on other roads.
Hope this helps.
