Question 761552: Could you please help me with these questions? Thanks.
1)Suppose you choose an acre of land in Maryland at random. The probability is 0.12 that it is urban and 0.48 that it is rural. What is the probability that the acre chosen is not rural? Be sure to clearly define the events.
2)Suppose you choose an acre of land in Maryland at random. The probability is now 0.18 that it is urban and now 0.5 that it is rural. What is the probability that the acre chosen is either urban or rural?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1)Suppose you choose an acre of land in Maryland at random. The probability is 0.12 that it is urban and 0.48 that it is rural. What is the probability
that is is not rural.
P(not rural) = 1-0.48 = 0.52

2)Suppose you choose an acre of land in Maryland at random. The probability is now 0.18 that it is urban and now 0.5 that it is rural. What is the probability that the acre chosen is either urban or rural?
P(urban or rural) = 0.18+0.50 = 0.68
