Question 76154: Hello, I've struggled with conic sections for two months and keep getting the wrong answers. I skipped #s 3 and 4 on circles because those were right.
Problem #5: "Find the foci for the ellipse and sketch a graph of ."
Unfortunately, all I got was a foci at +4,0 and -4,0; but I don't know how to graph it.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! x^2/9+y^2/25=1
setting y=0 we get
x^2/9=1
x^2=9
x=+-3
set x=0 we get
y^2/25=1
y^2=25
y=+-5
y^2/25=-x^2/9+1
y^2=25(-x^2/9)+25
y=sqrt(25*-x^2/9+25)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, y = sqrt(25(-x^2)/9 +25)).
