Question 761535: Randy has grades of 85, 02, 96, and 89 on his last four math tests. What grade does he need on his next test to have an average of 92?
I tried to set up an equation that kind of looked like this:
85+02+96+89+x / 5 = 92
but I didn't get an answer that made sense, please help me haha. Thanks! Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Use parentheses and you will get the proper answer:
(85+92+96+89+x) / 5 = 92
------
(362+x) = 5*92
---
x = 460-362
---
x = 98
