Question 761436: I need help figuring out what the equation for the rate of gas being dispensed.
I already know that the volume of the cylinder is 22.1ft(cubed).
The gas tank of a truck is a cylinder 4.5ft long with a diameter of 2.5ft . At the gas station, a pump pours gas at the rate of 5ft(cubed) per minute. How many minutes does it take to fill the empty tank with that pump?
Use the value 3.14 for PI , and round your answer to the nearest minute.

Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you have everything you need,
22.1 / 5 = 4.4 minutes to fill the tank :-)

Your are correct on your calculation for the volume of the tank.
Now divide the 22.1ft^3 by the rate of the gas pump.

Since 0.42 is less than 0.5 you would normally round down. But I think since the tank is not yet full at 4 minutes, that you should round up to 5.
