Question 7604: IF f(x) -5x-1, find the following
f(a-2)
Answer by longjonsilver(2297) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! if f(x) = -5x-1 --> all this says is "the variable is x. Wherever you see it in the "equation", put in the value quoted in the brackets".
So, all f(a-2) says do is "put the value a-2 everywhere where the x is. THAT IS IT. NOTHING MORE. So,
f(a-2) = -5(a-2) - 1
f(a-2) = -5a+10-1
f(a-2) = -5a+9
done.
