Question 760088: I have a few sets of points, what i need is a table of every 20 seconds, which I could do if I had the equation. It has been over 50 years since class. I can tell the slope is changing so it is a curved line decreasing less rapidly over time, I think the y-value is infinity as x approaches 0 and x-value is infinity as y approaches 0. - So how do I figure what is the equation (unless there is a website somewhere I can just put in the points and get the equation because I will have more of these) and how does the graph really look for these points:

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
We need to convert the x value to a single variable of time. Let the origin of x be at 5 hours, then the first value of x is 7, because it is 7 sec past 5. Then your next value of x is 15. The third value is 79 because your time is 6:19 or 60+19 sec. Get it?
Now your given table for the first y value is

....7......307
...15......315
...79......379
..132......432
..150......450
From which we can easily deduce that
(1) y = x + 300
Note that the slope of (1) is one and the y intercept is 300 seconds or 5 hours.
The other set of y values is not a straight line (slope is not constant). I tried to fit a quadratic with little success.
