Let +a+ = the larger integer
Let +b+ = the smaller integer
-------------
(1) +a+=+5b+%2B+3+
(2) +a+-+b+=+31+
----------------
Substitute (1) into (2)
(2) +5b+%2B+3+-+b+=+31+
(2) +4b+=+28+
(2) +b+=+7+
and, since
(2) +a+-+b+=+31+
(2) +a+-+7+=+31+
(2) +a+=+38+
The numbers are 38 and 7
check:
(1) +a+=+5b+%2B+3+
(1) +38+=+5%2A7+%2B+3+
(1) +38+=+35+%2B+3+
(1) +38+=+38+
