Question 75997: a)In function notation, write the following: He takes a real number, multiplies it by 3, then adds 4, and then subtracts one-eighth of the result of multiplying the original number by -2.
Is it f(x) = 13/4 x + 4?
b)State the inverse function.
Is it f^-1(x) = 4/13 x - 16/13? Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You are right on the money with both answers. You can check the inverse by plugging in x=1 into the original equation and you'll get y=29/4. When you plug in x=29/4 into the inverse equation you'll get y=1 which is what you originally plugged in so it works.
