2. 1.8 litres of water are poured into the empty container. 600 identical small marbles are completely immersed in the 1.8 litres of water. The height of the water level rises to 13 cm. Calculate the volume in cm3 of one marble?
You can put this solution on YOUR website! A rectangular container is 25 cm long and 12 cm wide.
If 5.4 litres of water are poured into the empty container then
it will be half full.
Find the height of the container?
Let h = height of the water
then
2h = height of the container
:
we know that 1 liter = 1000 cu/cm
25 * 12 * h = 5.4 * 1000
300h = 5400
h = 5400/300
h = 18 cm is the height of the water
therefore
2(18) = 36 cm is the height of the container
:
2. 1.8 litres of water are poured into the empty container.
600 identical small marbles are completely immersed in the 1.8
litres of water.
The height of the water level rises to 13 cm.
Calculate the volume in cm3 of one marble?
:
1.8 liter = 1800 cu/cm of water
:
Find the height of the water only in the container
25 * 12 * h = 1800
300h = 1800
h = 1800/200
h = 6 cm high is the water without the marbles
The 600 marbles raised it from 6 cm to 13 cm or a 7cm rise
25 * 12 * 7 = 840 cu/cm
therefore = 1.4 cu/cm vol for each marble
