You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +x+ = cups of 4% milk to be added
+.01%2A8+=+.08+ cups of butterfat in 1% milk
+.04x+ = cups of butterfat in 4% milk to be added
---------------------------------------------
+%28+.08+%2B+.04x+%29+%2F+%28+8+%2B+x+%29+=+.02+
+.08+%2B+.04x+=+.02%2A%28+8+%2B+x+%29+
+.08+%2B+.04x+=+.16+%2B+.02x++
+.02x+=+.08+
+x+=+4+
4 cups of 4% milk need to be added
check:
+%28+.08+%2B+.04x+%29+%2F+%28+8+%2B+x+%29+=+.02+
+%28+.08+%2B+.04%2A4+%29+%2F+%28+8+%2B+4+%29+=+.02+
+.24+%2F+12+=+.02+
+.24+=+.24+
OK

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
8(0.01)+0.04x=0.02(x+8)

m100: 8(0.01)+0.04x=0.02(x+8)
8+4x=2(x+8)
8+4x=2x+16

4x-2x=16-8
2x=8
x=4

Add 4 cups
