You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What's the situation before any extra gold is added?
1% of 5 ounces of "stuff" is gold. The equation is:
.01%2A5+%2F+5+=+.01
The numerator is how much gold is in it. The denominator is
total "stuff" including gold, so when I add x amount of new gold
I add it to top and bottom and make it = .06.
%28.05+%2B+x%29+%2F+%285+%2B+x%29+=+.06
.05+%2B+x+=+.3+%2B+.06x
.94x+=+.25
x+=+.266 answer
check
%28.05+%2B+x%29+%2F+%285+%2B+x%29+=+.06
%28.05+%2B+.266%29+%2F+%285+%2B+.266%29+=+.06
.316+%2F+5.266+=+.06
.06+=+.06
OK
