Question 758119: can has radius of 3cm and height of 12cm in a box 3 rows of 4 can in a box. Dimensions of box is h=12.2cm w=19cm l=25cm. Find volume of empty space.
1) I found volume of 1 can (pi)(r2)(h)
V = (3.12)(9)(12)
V = 339.12cm2 x 12cans
V = 4069.44cm3
Then
2) I found volume of box (l)(h)(w)
V = (25)(19)(12)
V = 5795 cm3
3) Then subtracted volume of cans from box: 5795cm3 - 4069.44cm3
Empty volume = 1725.56cm3
Is this correct and is there another way of finding the empty volume?
