You can put this solution on YOUR website! An airplane has just enough fuel for a 6 hour flight.
How far can it fly, roundtrip, in which during the first leg of the trip, it flies with the wind at 235 miles per hour,
and during the return trip, it flies against the wind at 190 miles per hour?
--------------------------
------------------
1st leg DATA: time = x hrs ; rate = 235 mph ; distance = 235x miles
2nd leg DATA: time = 6-x hrs ; rate = 190 mph ; distance = 190(6-x) miles
------
Equation:235x = 190*6-190x
-----
425x = 190*6
x = 2.6824 hrs
------
1st leg distance = 2.6824 hrs (235 mph) = 630 miles
Total distance: 1260 miles
----------------------------
