Let t = time traveled by train
the total time is 11 hrs, therefore:
(11-t) = time traveled by car
:
Write a dist equation; dist = speed * time
:
train dist + car dist = 600
50t + 60(11-t) = 600
50t + 660 - 60t = 600
50t - 60t = 600 - 660
-10t = -60
t = -60/-10
t = 6 hrs by train
then
11-6 = 5 hrs by car
