You can put this solution on YOUR website!
hello,
We would like to simplify this: %28x%5E3y%2Fxy%5E2%29%5E-2
First, we remove the x's and y's in the parentheses. We get %28x%5E2%2Fy%29%5E-2. Since we are raising to a negative power, multiplication becomes division or in other words, we reverse the numerator and the denominator, so it is equal to %28y%2Fx%5E2%29%5E2, which is y%5E2%2Fx%5E4.

what are the necessary steps to simplifying the expression
(x^3y/xy^2)^-2
------
Work from the inside to the outside.
---
= (x^2/y)^(-2)
----
Invert:
= (y/x^2)^2
----
Square:
= y^2/x^4

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x^3 y/x y^2)^-2
1) Cancel x and x^3 leaving x^2 on top
2) Cancel y and y^2 leaving y on bottom
Equation so far:
(x^2/y)^-2
A minus power(-2) means it should be
a denominator. i.e.
3) equation = 1/ (x^2/y)^2
4) (x^2/y)^2 = (x^4/y^2)
Equation so far:
1/ (x^4/y^2)
A fraction as a denominator
turns upside down and becomes
y^2/x^4
Hope this helps.
