multiply both sides of the < by 6 (least common multiple of the denominators)
2x + 5x < 4 (the < stays as a < sign because 6 is positive)
7x < 4 and
x < 4/7 or .57
draw your number line and shade it to the left of the point .57, in other words, all x less than .57
