log(base a) of 5 could be any number.
Your problem says it is "5"

Keep in mind that "log" means "exponent".
So you have a^5=5 as the exponential form of log(base a)5=5.
Take the 5th root of both sides to find "a".
a=5^(1/5)=1.3797...
