What is the equation of an ellipse with foci (0,3) (0,-3) and co vertices (10,0) (-10,0)
Given ellipse has a vertical major axis.
Its standard form of equation: %28x-h%29%5E2%2Fb%5E2%2B%28y-k%29%5E2%2Fa%5E2=1, a>b, (h,k)=(x,y) coordinates of center.
For given ellipse:
center: (0,0)
c=3 (distance from center to foci)
c^2=9
b=10 (distance from center to end points)
b^2=100
c^2=a^2-b^2
a^2=c^2+b^2=9+100=109
Equation of given ellipse:
