A rectangular plot of land is 100 feet long and 50 feet wide
so the diagonal=sqrt(100^2+50^2)=sqrt(10000+2500)=sqrt(12500)=111.80 ft

Pythagorean problem.
A right angled triangle with one side
= 100ft and the other = 50ft.
The slope from the ends of the sides
is the hypotenuse. This is the diagonal.
100^2 + 50^2 = diagonal^2
10000 + 2500 = diagonal^2
12500 = diagonal^2
diagonal = square root of 12500
diagonal = 111.8 = 112 ft.
Hope this helps
