Divide the coefficient on the first degree term by 2. (6 over 2 is 3) Square the result. (3 squared is 9) Add that result (9) and the opposite of that result (-9) to the RHS of the equation.



Factor the perfect square trinomial and simplify the remainder of the RHS:
