Question 751580: Job 1: Donivan Tech is offering Sharon a full-time management position at a yearly salary of $50, 310. Sharon estimates that she will work an average of 45 hours per week when she considers the extra work commitment required for managers. The commute of 45 miles a day will be about five hours a week driving. She estimates that payroll deductions will be 15% of her gross salary.
Job 2: J&R Financial Group is offering her a part-time position as an assistant manager. The work schedule would be six hours per day. 5 days a week at an hourly rate of $20.50. The commute of 5 miles a day will be about one hour in driving. Due to the reduced work schedule, she calculates that payroll deductions will be 12% and daycare, after-school program, and other expenses will be reduced by $25 per week.
Using weekly pay, payroll deductions and job related expenses, Sharon can determine what her real hourly wage will be. Then she'll be able to compare the two jobs while taking into consideration all expenses.
Task 4: How much will Sharon have left to spend every week after subtracting deductions and expenses from the weekly pay at Job 1 ? At Job 2?
Task 5: Considering the total time spent working and commuting, what is the real hourly wage at Job 1? Job 2.
Thank you so much for your help,
