These problems take a bit of trial and error.
%282a%2B2%29%28a-9%29=+2a%5E2-16a-18 I got the first and last term but we need the middle term to work.

The 2 has just the two factors, 2 and 1, but 18 has these pairs,(18,1)(9,2)(6,3) along with the choice of where the negative sign goes.
Turns out this is the correct result -
