Question 751175: the volume of a prism is 360, the dimensions are doubled by what factor would you multiply by this volume, what is the new volume Answer by timvanswearingen(106) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you're talking about a rectangular prism, then the formula for volume is l x w x h. Since you are doubling each dimension, this means you are doing l*2 x w*2 x h*2. Because multiplication is associative, we can rearrange to get l x w x h x 2 x 2 x 2. So you basically have the original volume (l x w x h) * (2 x 2 x 2) = (l x w x h) * 8. So the volume is increased by a factor of 8.
8*360=2880 cubic units
