Question 750127: I am doing Theorem 11.3 which state that area of triangle is equal to one half base time height.
In a two column proof, what could be the right reason at end of of statement: Area of triangle abc is equal to one half times parallelogram abcd equals one half base times height. I cant use the reason Definition of Theorem 11.3.
Here is what I already have:
Given: triangle bcd
Prove : Area = 1/2bh
Line ba is parallel to line cd forming parallelogram abcd
triangle bcd congruent to triangleda b Reason is SSS or SAS
Then last statement is
area of triangle bcd equals 1/2 area of parallelogram abcd = 1/2bh
What could be the reason for the last statement?
I have been trying hard to think and look for the right reason for this one. Please help. Thank you so much.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! in a parallelogram diagonal divide it in two equal half
due this triangle area will be half of area of parallelogram lying on same base and between two parallel lines
