Question 749514: (x-6)(x+8)=0 help???
Answer by timvanswearingen(106) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you multiply two numbers, or quantities together and the product is zero, then one of the factors must be zero.
First set x-6=0 and solve for x: simply add 6 to both sides, so x=6.
Then set x+8=0 and solve for x: subtract 8 from both sides, so x= -8.
Therefore, x=6 OR -8. In either case, the product will be 0.
