(2) +x+%2B+5y+=+38+
Multiply both sides of (1) by +5+
(1) +10x+-+5y+=+50+
Now add the equations
(1) +10x+-+5y+=+50+
(2) +x+%2B+5y+=38+
+11x+=+88+
Divide both sides by +11+
+x+=+8+

Plug this result back into (2)
(2) +8+%2B+5y+=+38+
(2) 5y+=+38+-+8+
(2) +5y+=+30+
(2) +y+=+6+

the solutions are:
+x+=+8+
+y+=+6+
