Question 745364: Hi, i've been working on this some for days and cant seem to solve it, I would ask my teacher ofcourse, but i'm homeschooled, so can someone please explain this sum to me?
Points A, B, C, and D lie in consecutive order on a line. If AC=4/3AB and BD=6BC, then what is AB/CD?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

if AC=%284%2F3%29AB => 3AC=4AB => AB=%283%2F4%29AC
and since BC+=AC-AB we can say:
BC+=%281%2F4%29AC
therefore AB=3BC

furthermore, CD=+BD-+BC
substituting: CD+=+6BC+-+BC => CD+=5BC
now we have both AB and CD in terms of BC, so:
AB%2FCD+=3BC%2F5BC+=3%2F5
