Question 74474: I have tried this problem several times and keep seem to come up with the right formula:
If I want to make the perfect 12 oz cup of chocolate milk, it requires that the mixture is 42% Hershey's Syrup. What I have right now is 8oz of a milk/syrup mixture that I know contains 30% syrup. What must the syrup concentration be in the remaining mixture that I must add in order to achieve perfection?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Yum--chocolate--my favorite!

12 oz of chocolate milk at 42% syrup means 12 X .42 or 5.04 oz of syrup

you currently have 8 oz at 30% or 2.4 oz of syrup

you need to add 5.04-2.4 or 2.64 0z of syrup in another 4 oz of mixture

this would be 2.64/4 or a 66% mixture

Happy sipping!!
